Job Description

Are you an experienced Writer with a desire to impact the world for Jesus? The International Mission Board, a nonprofit religious organization in Richmond, VA, is hiring for a Writer! Location: REMOTE, strong preference given to local candidates. Compensation: $72-80K potential salary range + great benefits! The Writer will focus heavily on writing and editing marketing content for varied audiences including donors and age-specific groups. The role will also write and edit news and feature stories for and external audiences; internal company communications; marketing content; or other writing assignments as needed for the global organization. Responsibilities: Creates and/or edits written content presented through IMB communication vehicles, including website(s), social media platforms, multimedia projects, print products, and promotion and display projects. Collaborates with video producers and photographers to create video scripts, cutlines, and other supporting materials, as needed. Builds and maintains relationships with field personnel to identify story ideas. Evaluates content outlets (such as websites and social media platforms) to strategize ideas. Pitches opportunities for expanding IMB’s influence among its audiences through written content. Remains current on best practices in writing for various outlets. Continually learns best practices in communication strategies and tactics, especially in marketing to different audiences. Consistently pursues training in communication proficiencies. Proofreads copy and design proofs for all MarCom products to ensure accuracy, brand specific language, and audience compatibility. Attend various special meetings, conferences and events in Richmond, VA locations. Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree, preferred. At least three years of Marketing/Corporate Communications content writing experience. Must work at an advanced journalistic skill level to communicate missionary and Baptist work overseas and church involvement stateside to lead readers to supportive action. Ability to work quickly and efficiently to produce quality material under daily deadline pressure. Reputable for a strong attention to detail. Strong interview and interpersonal skills. Understands the collaboration necessary within the SBC, and internally among IMB teams, to accomplish IMB mission objectives. Strong adaptability and flexibility competency. Ability to travel frequently to events, meetings, and story locations (domestic and international).
