Felsburg Holt & Ullevig is seeking an innovative and enthusiastic planner with an interest in helping communities of all sizes enhance their active transportation systems, making it easier for everyone to walk, bike, and roll to the places they want to go. As a Planner I or II, you will work on regional, statewide, city, corridor, and sub-area multimodal transportation plans and studies, with a particular focus on active transportation. Every day will look different, with tasks including analysis, mapping support, alternatives development and evaluation, client and stakeholder meetings, community engagement activities, writing, and collaboration with other planners, engineers, and scientists. This full-time position will be located in either our Greenwood Village, Fort Collins, or Colorado Springs offices, with the flexibility to work a hybrid in-person/remote schedule in coordination with your supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Supports and leads a variety of analysis, writing, and public engagement tasks including on active transportation and multimodal planning projects of all sizes
  • Assists in plan development: analyzes demographic and mobility data, develops project goals and objectives, assesses transportation improvement needs, evaluates improvement alternatives, and develops recommendations and implementation plans
  • Prepares and/or supports development of a variety of planning documents including plan reports, technical memoranda, correspondence, maps and charts, and outreach and engagement materials
  • Uses excellent written communication skills to develop high-quality, easy to read reports for clients
  • Works collaboratively on larger multi-discipline transportation projects in a team environment

Requirements

Desirable areas of expertise include:

  • Strong writing skills and experience working as support and/or lead writer for planning and/or other relevant technical documents in a professional or academic context
  • Proficiency using Excel for data and demographic analysis
  • Understanding of or experience with active transportation planning principles a plus, but not necessary
  • Working knowledge of ArcGIS-based analysis and mapping a plus, but not necessary

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in urban and regional planning, civil/transportation engineering, landscape architecture, or other related field from an accredited four-year college or university
  • 1-4 years of experience with bicycle/pedestrian/trail or multimodal planning, especially in the consulting field, is a plus but not necessary

The salary for this position has a range of $72,000 – $85,000 annually. The actual offer will carefully consider a range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, and experience.
