This is a hybrid role.

The Technical Writer will bring their experience in writing clear, concise, and effective content to help our clients successfully use our products/services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical writing, an understanding of customer advocacy, and the ability to translate complex information into user-friendly documentation. The Technical Writer will work with subject matter experts to create end user, programmer, and service/maintenance manuals for hardware and software products. A strong mechanical background is also preferred for service documentation requirements. Producing technical illustrations for the manuals will also be required.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Develop and Maintain Documentation: Create and update a wide range of technical documents, including user manuals, installation guides, programming manuals, illustrated parts breakdown, and service manuals.
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts: Work closely with engineers, product managers, and other technical experts to gather information and ensure accuracy.
  • Translate Technical Jargon: Simplify complex technical concepts and present them in a way that is easy for non-technical audiences to understand.
  • Function as a user and be an advocate by performing product testing and providing usability feedback.
  • Post manuals and regulatory documents on our website.
  • Ensure Accuracy and Clarity: Meticulously review and edit all documents for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and technical accuracy.
  • Manage Multiple Projects: Juggle multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines effectively.
  • Stay Current on Technology: Continuously learn and adapt to new technologies and industry trends.
  • Write, proofread, and edit print and other forms of electronic and print documents.
  • Work cooperatively with engineers, service, product testing engineers and marketing to provide technical bulletins, custom documentation, etc.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical writing, engineering, or a related field.
  • 3 or more years of experience in technical writing, preferably in a mechanical engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, CorelDraw, Adobe Illustrator.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical concepts and terminology, along with the ability to disassemble and reassemble hardware to write service documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with CAD software, such as Solidworks.
  • Knowledge of technical illustration tools.
  • Experience with Adobe Experience Manager
  • Understanding of the Google Workspace
  • Familiarity with content management systems.
