Job Description

- Write and or summarize technical documents for a variety of different audiences (i.e. engineering, system manager, end-user);
- Review documentation standards and the existing project documentation;
- Determine documentation requirements and makes plans for meeting them;
- Assess the audience for the documents/manuals which are required and prepare a statement of purpose and scope for each;
- Develop a table of content for each document/manual and write or edit the required content;
- Investigate the accuracy of the information collected by making direct use of the material being documented;
- Prepare or coordinate the preparation of any required illustrations and diagrams;
- Design the layout of the documents/manuals, including application of specific formatting specifications such as Canadian Forces Technical Orders (CFTO) formatting;
- Use word-processing, desk-top publishing and graphics software packages to produce final production-ready copy;
- Produce high quality technical documentation in a variety of formats and tools;
- Advise on the appropriateness, applicability and effectiveness of specific technical documents, formats, notations and technologies;
- Perform any other work related to this category
Qualifications
- Proof University Degree or College Diploma in any discipline;
- Minimum of 2 years experience in technical writing in a minimum of 4 of this assessment area’s criteria;
- Planning, researching, gathering information and authoring technical documentation such as Statement of Requirements, System Specifications, and user manuals and guides;
- Proof reading technical documents created by others;
- Analyzing material, such as specifications (technical Statement of Work/Requirement), notes, drawings, writing manuals, user guides and other documents to explain the requirement clearly and concisely;
- Minimum of 1 year experience in the preparation of business correspondence and reports in the field of Information Technology;
- Minimum of 4 years experience in the preparation of technical concept documents, system specifications, and technical proposals in the field of Information Technology / Information management or engineering;
- Minimum of 1 years of experience in a minimum of 1 of this area’s criteria:
- Providing advice and/or guidance on technical writing issues;
- Experience providing verbal briefings / presentations on a technical topic;
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance and a controlled goods certification
