We are looking for a thoughtful Sr User-experience writer to help craft our content on the core features of our cloud infrastructure products for developers and data scientists. Reporting to the Manager of Product Design, the Sr User-experience writer will join a close-knit, collaborative, and light-hearted team, making sure our customers get the best possible experience from our products and services.

Simplicity and usability are central to the DigitalOcean differentiator. The Product Design team has an impact across the organization, working with engineering and product teams to create experiences that make development much more enjoyable and much less frustrating. As the product grows, the challenge of keeping the platform and experience simple becomes even more crucial. Our team is committed to helping each other grow and be impactful in our work creating solutions.

What you’ll be doing

  • Create intuitive copy that helps users navigate with ease through digital products. This might include menus, definitions, buttons, labels, chatbots, and error messages

  • Instruct first-time users through a product with intuitive microcopy

  • Help carry the brand voice to our products

  • Collaborate with our Digital Ocean thought leaders and SME’s to produce meaningful content for our client community and our products

  • Contribute to and help implement style guides, standards and shared language across our products

  • Manage and prioritize work across multiple projects simultaneously

What you’ll add to DigitalOcean

  • 5+ years of experience with digital products and brands

  • A solid knowledge of UX writing principles and processes

  • A solid knowledge of information Architecture principles and practices

  • Ability to articulate your thoughts and work with others to bring ideas to life

  • Understanding of the importance of testing and iterating on work

  • Attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality work

  • Can become an expert on our products, distilling complex ideas down into language that’s approachable

  • Comfort with presenting your work and explaining your thinking

  • Have a dedicated passion for user-focused product experiences
