We are Health Unlimited and we are seeking a Senior Medical Writer to join our growing Medical Education team based in Soho, London. Reporting into the Editorial and Scientific Directors, this is a key role within our agency.

This role will be based within Rock Unlimited who are the Medical Education and Scientific Engagement specialists within Health Unlimited, combining a team of scientists proficient in delivering high quality content, training and education.

You will have excellent writing skills and broad understanding of clinical medicine. Working across a range of projects, you will take pride in delivering exceptional educational programmes and will be highly organised and forward thinking to ensure that all deliverables meet your clients’ needs. You are looking to develop, grow and go above and beyond on all your accounts.

You will work with a talented team and be supported by people who have enormous experience and expertise to share. We seek a strong leader and team player who works collaboratively while also being confident in making key strategic decisions and growing the business.

Requirements

Editorial proficiency

  • A track record of delivering a range of different written outputs
  • Confident in flexing writing style to appeal to a wide range of audiences
  • Provides solid editorial guidance, including strategic insights on written material across the team and to senior management
  • Developing tailored solutions to meet client needs and improved clarity of project outcomes
  • Confident in reviewing and signing off written work from other members of the editorial team
  • Experience of working across both medical and commercial projects would be advantageous

Strategic and scientific leadership

  • Trusted scientific partner and client counsel on the accounts under your remit
  • In-depth and confident understanding of clients’ scientific strategy
  • Provide scientific counsel and expertise to the wider HU team as the content lead
  • In-depth and confident understanding of several therapy areas
  • Provide insights into new therapy areas quickly and confidently
  • Proactive development of existing accounts through identification of opportunities for growth and conversion into new or ongoing work from clients

Leadership and team responsibilities

  • Mentor/line-manage team members within the company and help develop their writing ability and editorial experience through coaching and experience building
  • Ensure highest scientific standards and clinical accuracy across projects and teams
  • Involved in editorial team development and structure
  • Manage editorial processes and SOPs

New business responsibilities

  • Strong experience of leading the scientific understanding and story for new business proposals
  • Confident development and presentation of new business proposals
  • Generating new ideas/proposals for organic growth with existing clients

Skills

  • Manage timings and implementation of account deliverables with confidence and accuracy
  • Strong presentation skills and experience in developing new business proposals
  • High standards in grammar and understanding of the editorial skills needed for excellence in communication
  • Excellent writing skills and attention to detail
  • Understanding of end user needs (Patient, KOL, HCP, client)
