In 2024 we launched The Local Production, a full-service specialist agency focused on creating content to truly elevate brands. Harnessing expert knowledge and skills, we specialise in delivering strategic excellence and creative brilliance.
As we continue to diversify our content and grow our audience, we are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Senior Features Writer to join our team in Sydney, working onsite in our Alexandria office 4 days p/w.
The Senior Features Writer will be an experienced self-starter with a demonstrated interest in design, architecture and other lifestyle subjects. You’ll work closely with the wider editorial team to research and write high-quality features and work also collaboratively with the sales team to produce partnerships content for our digital and print publications.
We are looking for a creative individual, with an understanding of digital and print media, who is ready for the next step in their journalism career.
Some of the things you’ll be working on…
- Write engaging architecture and design features relevant to our audience.
- Source, conduct and write interviews.
- Work collaboratively with editorial and partnerships teams to deliver editorial and advertorial content on a regular basis.
- With guidance from the Editor and Senior Writer, proactively identify new ideas for features.
- Maintain internal communication systems to ensure clarity and efficiency of workflows, version control of documents and assets.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with clients, proactively communicating regarding deadlines and requirements for information and assets, seeking and responding to feedback.
Experience you’ll need…
- 5+ years’ content, copywriting or journalism writing experience.
- Experience working for print and/or digital media publications.
- An interest in, or desire to learn, all things architecture and design.
- Excellent writing and copy-editing skills.
- An ability to multi-task and work on several high profile projects simultaneously.
- An ability to generate your own story ideas and see them through to publication.
- Proven track record of building relationships with industry sources.
