The Opportunity

Pillar4 Media is seeking a senior commerce editor to join its fast-growing team.

As a member of the Sleepopolis team, you’ll work closely with senior leadership and other team members to manage our commerce content strategy in the mattress and sleep space.

The senior commerce editor will collaborate with the head of content and SEO teams to identify new opportunities in the mattress/sleep space. They’ll assign and edit reviews, roundups, and comparisons, manage two staffers (one senior staff writer and one video reviewer), and be a key contributor to our biggest content vertical.

What You’ll Be Doing

Reporting to the head of content, the senior commerce editor will:

  • Partner with the SEO team to identify net-new keyword opportunities in the mattress/sleep accessory space

  • Recruit, hire, and train freelance writers and assign out content

  • Maintain the commerce editorial calendar

  • Manage 2 commerce staffers (senior staff writer and video reviewer) providing coaching, feedback, and development as necessary

  • Collaborate with our product team on the creation of new sleep-related tools, quizzes, user experience improvements, or review/roundup template updates

  • Partner with the performance editors on content optimizations and updates

  • Lead our holiday content strategy, working with our newsletter editor and social media team to conceptualize and oversee the content strategy for big shopping holidays (Presidents’ Day, Cyber 5, Labor Day, etc.)

  • Work with the SEO and revenue teams to monitor traffic, rankings, and revenue

  • Create and maintain any commerce-related style guides or documentation to ensure consistency across our commerce vertical

What You Bring

  • At least 5-7 years of editorial experience, preferably in a commerce role

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Thoughtful editorial judgment

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills

  • Drive to quickly gain expertise on a subject matter that might be foreign to you

  • Proven ability to juggle multiple projects at once and shift priorities as needed

  • Some SEO experience preferred

  • Some people management experience preferred
