Summary/Objective

The Report Writer – Data Analyst is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining reports using various tools including Crystal Reports, SQL and the Bank’s Core Provider’s reporting tools. At the direction of the SVP, Chief Technology Officer (CTO), the Report Writer will work closely business stakeholders to understand business requirements and create or update reports that provide value to the Bank.

Responsibilities and expectations of the Report Writer include and are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements for reporting needs
  • Design and develop new reports and update or enhance existing reports including the removal of obsolete reports using Crystal Reports and other software tools
  • Create data models and write SQL queries to extract data from various data sources
  • Design and format reports to meet business needs and standards
  • Validate report data to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies
  • Maintain documentation and ensure all reporting processes are organized and well-documented
  • Train end-users on how to use reports and provide support as needed
  • Create and maintain documentation of configurations, processes and procedures within the reporting function
  • Assist with data mapping for various system integrations
  • Establish automation and efficiencies around data and reporting functions
  • Other projects and tasks, as needed

Experience & Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or successful completion of relevant courses and three to five years of experience
  • In-depth understanding of Financial Services preferably in Banking

Essential Job Functions:

  • Collaborate with Bank stakeholders to understand the data, information, and analytic needs of their departments
  • Maintenance of reports in response to individual and/or department requests
  • Designs, documents, codes, tests, and debugs new and existing reports using necessary tools
  • Responsible for report creation with report writing tools, primarily concentrated with relational data bases such as MyData, and data mining large volumes of data using query tools such as Crystal Reports and Structured Query Language (SQL) at an intermediate level
  • Create report schedules and automate using Applicable tools including TotalVision
  • Use relevant tools to develop the right solution to meet customer data needs
  • Monitor the performance of module-specific reporting inventory and take corrective action as necessary to optimize performance and mitigate negative consequences for customers
  • Regularly review service pack upgrades from Core Provider to determine implications for respective modules and data

Required Skills

Required knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • Able to build strong interpersonal relationships with peers, department leaders, and other senior management throughout the company
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple activities
  • Strong end-user of Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools
  • Working knowledge of SQL Language
  • Strong knowledge of Crystal Repots application or similar reporting tools
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under time constraints when necessary
  • Strong ability and desire to learn new things
  • Successful completion of in-house training programs or other approved training programs
  • Compliance with BSA regulations as appropriate to the position

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Must be able to travel to other worksites
  • Must be able to work schedules that meet the needs of the Bank, which may include early morning, evening and /or weekend hours
