Position Description  

We are seeking a Public Relations and Social Media Manager who can help increase awareness and develop an enviable corporate image by developing and executing effective PR communication and media relations programs that support our company’s overall media strategy.  You will oversee ensuring that all media and social engagement activities are in line with the company’s overall marketing and branding strategies and reflect business and corporate priorities.  

The ideal candidate is a team player who can collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders across marketing, sales, investor relations and the executive leadership team as well as with PAR customers and partners.  

 

Public Relations Responsibilities:  

  • Planning, developing, and executing media communication strategies and influencer marketing programs in accordance with the company’s business objectives 

  • Craft media releases and develop social media programs to promote product releases, company updates and integration partnerships.  

  • Collaborates and manages the companies PR agency of record 

  • Creating social media content strategies to increase brand awareness and boost engagement 

  • Build connections with key media organizations and journalists through a mix of traditional, digital, and social 

Channels  

  • Understand the competitor landscape and stay ahead of any threat to our brand position 

  • Communicate outcomes and results of the company’s media relations initiatives to the company leadership 

  • Preparing press releases and media materials for distribution to local, regional, and national media 

  • Collaborates with leadership to identify trends and evaluate advertising to determine whether it is in sync with the organization’s public relation efforts 

  • Studying the organization’s objectives, promotional policies, and needs to build public relations strategies that influence public opinion and promote products, ideas, and services 

  • Staying up to date with innovations and updates of social media platforms and researching popular content ideas  

 

Public Relations Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, PR, marketing or related field. 

  • 2-5+ years of experience in B2B marketing, with an emphasis in communications, PR, content, and social media 

  • Leading media training for executives 

  • Strong knowledge and experience with LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok 

  • Ability to operate independently after given direction from the team, organize ideas from other marketing team members, and disseminate information to cross-functional peers  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

  • An ability to work on big strategy plans as well as day-to-day tasks 

  • Ability to think both creatively and strategically 

  • Ability to run PR campaigns that deliver measurable results and meet objectives 

  • Deadline-oriented, inquisitive, with great follow-up and reporting skills 

  • Creativity in securing coverage and buzz with traditional outlets 

  • Understanding of social media and solid experience  

  • Project and budget management skills 

  • Responds well under pressure with strict time limit 

  • Quick and enthusiastic learner 

 

Location and Commitments: 

  • Based in Markham, Ontario, Canada 

  • Full-time, permanent 

  • Reports to the Sr. Director of Marketing 

  • 30% Travel may be required
