Are you a storyteller at heart with a passion for creating immersive narratives in video games? As a Narrative Game Designer at Kokku Games, you will work on a combination of our pitches and presentations, showing to our clients our strengths and our game design ideas.

As a Narrative Game Designer, you will:

  • Create and improve standard documentation within the design team;
  • Oversee, critique, and support documentation within the design team;
  • Create one-pagers, full GDDs, and presentations to share design vision with the rest of the project team;
  • Able to work in all areas of Game Design – Narrative, Level Design, Mechanics, Economy or Prototyping/Scripting;
  • Create and maintain design documentation for any assigned projects using company tools;
  • Oversee, critique, and support design documentation for any project;
  • Act as point of contact for all issues and decisions of design within the assigned project;
  • Provide feedback for Associate Level Game Designers;
  • Create and own pitch and proposal decks and communicate with the client as needed;
  • Create native-passing dialog in both English and Portuguese
  • Use game engines at a basic level to prototype ideas;
  • Use spreadsheets to keep track of the game’s economy, progression and balance;
  • Work with game designers from other studios;
  • Provide consistent, quality output.

Requirements

  • More than 2 years of experience as a writer of narrative experiences;
  • Advanced in English;
  • Preferred mobile, PC and console gaming experience;
  • Familiarity with MIRO or other whiteboard solution;
  • Experience (Indie or Pro) experimenting with various Game Systems (Mods, self-creation tools, narrative/visual adventures, etc)
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of Game Design;
  • Ability to work independently and in a team;
  • Passionate about game mechanics, game economy, documentation and game testing;
  • Experience with level design for various genres;
  • Problem solving and open mind;
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to changes;
  • Autonomous and proactive attitude, oriented towards results;
  • Sense of initiative, attention to detail;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and spoken;
  • Update job knowledge proactively;
  • Advanced working experience with G-Suite (Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc) or Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc)
