What You Will Do

As Medical Writer, you will be responsible for writing and editing high-quality, medically-relevant scientific publications (i.e. clinical manuscripts, abstracts, posters, oral presentations, research protocols) for health care providers to fulfill medical and/or scientific objectives.

The Opportunity

  • Collaborate with content area experts in writing, editing, and submitting/finalizing:
      • hematology-related manuscripts and articles to scholarly and peer-reviewed journals
      • scientific clinical research protocols
  • Write and edit medical and scientific content for the organization’s website, patient education materials, provider manuals, brochures, posters, abstracts, presentations, and other forms of communication
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert regarding protocols for IHI-initiated studies and assist in the management and publication of results
  • Collaborate and assist with grant proposals as needed
  • Contribute to department initiatives/activities that impact medical publishing practices/processes, keeping in compliance with applicable Corporate Policies and procedures.
  • Maintain full compliance with legal, regulatory, and company requirements, as well as US laws and regulations

This position may require occasional travel for training/conferences as well as supporting IHI initiatives, as needed.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in related field required; PhD, PharmD preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of medical writing experience in the health care industry, academia, or related experience (i.e. clinical/scientific research) required
  • Valid driver’s license and insured automobile required
  • All IHI employees are expected to enable multi-factor authentication via their personal smart phone/smart device in order to access IHI systems as a requirement of the role.

Additional requirements:

  • Knowledge of regulation, requirements and guidance associated with scientific publications. Must continually train/be compliant with all current industry and company requirements as they relate to scientific publications.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle highly-sensitive interpersonal situations
  • Ability to explain data in a manner consistent with the targeted audience
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
