Job Description

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Strategic Communications, the Marketing Copywriter serves as a copywriter for UCLA Extension’s marketing collateral. This position is a critical component of the communications team, working closely with the Creative Director and the Marketing Managers in creating/drafting original copy for institutional marketing and advertising campaigns, and other projects. This role is responsible for generating advertising concepts and writing effective and compelling material that reflects the ‘UCLA Extension’-brand in alignment with the institutional strategies and priorities. Other duties may include serving as editor and proofreader for quarterly course offerings, print materials, web ads, digital banners, news, web, magazine, and email copy. The Marketing Copywriter is expected to work both within a team as well as independently, exercising a professional demeanor, creativity, original thought, excellent writing skills, and editorial judgment. A high degree of collaboration is expected. Ability to think creatively and critically; prioritize workload efficiently in the face of competing deadlines and fluctuating priorities; effectively work with a team in a fast-paced setting with a positive, can-do attitude.
