Job Description

LEGAL EDITOR

Job description: We are seeking a self-motivated professional with a passion for details, grammar and organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for precision editing of municipal codes based on legislative documents, including:

  • Organizing and reviewing project materials
  • Applying principles of logic to implement user-friendly organization/format
  • Producing a working draft and final copy
  • Editing word processing and portable document format files
  • Detailed proofreading for grammar, spelling and format
  • Documenting editorial issues for client resolution
  • Interacting with clients to provide solutions to publication issues

Qualifications: Candidates should be:

  • Highly organized and focused
  • Able to comprehend complex text
  • Have excellent command of English grammar
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Able to work independently to deadlines
  • Able to follow instructions and apply specified technical editing techniques
  • Proficient in word processing (MS Word or WordPerfect)
  • Skilled at clearly communicating, both orally and in writing, abstract concepts
  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree (preference for English, Law, Paralegal, or similar field)

This is a full-time, entry-level, salaried position offering a benefit package including 401(K), life, health and dental insurance plus paid vacation and holidays. The successful candidate will be required to work in our Cincinnati office. (NO REMOTE-WORK OPTION.)

We publish local government laws, including print and online versions. Located in downtown Cincinnati, our staff of approximately 50 professionals provides service to more than 3,500 municipalities across the country, ranging from large metropolises such as New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Dallas and Philadelphia, to rural villages with populations under 500.
