ABOUT THE TEAM:  Team members work independently and manage all aspects of a books portfolio in a collegial and supportive environment. Small department within a larger organization. Work closely with U.S. and offshore editorial team.  

Responsibilities

  • Leads and manages a large portfolio of state specific book projects for both print and online
  • Updates existing titles and acquires new content for these titles and for new projects as needed
  • Work closely with authors to maintain tight deadlines, provide project guidance, and give editorial and content feedback
  • Liaises effectively with production, business, marketing  and sales teams
  • Maintains up-to-date status of each book project, keeping simultaneous projects on time, often under tight deadlines
  • Other duties as assigned, to support editorial and business goals 

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of related legal editing experience
  • Extremely detail and deadline oriented
  • Strong editing, research and writing skills
  • Understanding of case law, statutes, regulatory materials and other primary law content
  • Excellent organizational, communication and presentation skills
  • Strong project management and schedule tracking skills
  • Ability to easily work on multiple projects simultaneously and shift focus as needed
  • Proficient in use of Legal Blue Book citation style
  • Ability to edit in MS Word and Adobe PDF formats
  • JD degree or paralegal certificate require
