Job Title: Lead, Technical Writing

Job Location: Salt Lake City, UT

Job Code: 10828

Job Schedule: 9/80, every other Friday off


Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Proficient in Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML) and/or Extensible Markup Language (XML)
  • Experience authoring Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Manuals, Technical Orders (TOs), Technical Manuals (TMs), User’s Manuals, and other related technical documents
  • Knowledge of and experience writing to military specifications and standard requirements (MIL-STD-38784, MIL-STD-40051, MIL-DTL-38807, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong editing and proofing skills
  • Capability to research and analyze detailed technical processes and extract technical information
  • Ability to coordinate with engineers, customer representatives, subject matter experts, vendors, customers and technical personnel as well as internal illustration team
  • Experience in project and time management and experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
  • Adaptable to changing priorities and workloads
  • Ability to format documents to meet contract requirements
  • Security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) or ability to obtain security clearance


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior technical writing experience


Preferred Qualificatons

  • Experience in SGML and/or XML content for DoD operation and maintenance manuals
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and Adobe FrameMaker
  • Experience with creating S1000D data modules and managing S1000D projects
  • Understanding of IETM and Common Source Database (CSDB) development standards, best practices, and protocols

Additional Information:

  • Occasional travel required
