mxdwn is seeking contributors to join our Music Newswire team. We are looking for strong writers that have a passion for music. The ideal candidate is capable of presenting news stories in an informative and captivating way, as well as being organized and prompt. The Music Newswire position is an online and remote opportunity which does not require travel. Applicants must be willing to learn and work as part of a team. No previous experience is required and this is a great opportunity to learn about the music industry and grow your journalistic skills. Please note: this internship is UNPAID

In this role you’d take 2 shifts during the week (weekends or weekdays) and basically be available until about midnight PST (so if you’re on the East Coast, might not be the best position for you). Really similar to the Breaking News position although your shift will be shorter (say like 5 hour max) and we won’t be feeding you stories in the same way that the Breaking News Writer would. For the most part, you’re literally just available in case something newsworthy happens at night, which is usually pretty rare. Usually you’ll write 3-4 stories per shift, some may be on the shorter side (~250 words) but others (i.e. when someone great has died) may require more lengthy writing, up to 500 words or so (these will be rare stories).
