C & B Equipment, a progressive family-owned company that has grown over 30 years to include John Deere Ag, material handling and powersports has an opening for a Service Writer at its Idaho Falls, Idaho location. A Service Writer is responsible for accurate and on-time reports and records relative to the service department’s operation within the dealership. This individual will perform functions to support the work order process, ensuring that all charges related to work orders are posted properly and closed on a timely basis. This individual will process warranty and product improvement claims and handle communications with customers in a professional manner.

Essential Duties:

  • Opens work orders as directed by the Service Manager/Shop Foreman and maintains control until closed and invoiced.
  • Processes warranty claims including computation of charges, submission, and follow-up.
  • Maintains specialty tools inventory and the service library with information that is current (e.g. files, bulletins, manuals, video tapes, etc.) under the direct supervision of the Service Manager.
  • Maintains Service Department filing records.
  • Updates customer profiles using equipment, hours, or other information from the customer work orders.
  • Maintains accessories and supplies together with preparing replacement orders.
  • Prepares Service Technician efficiency reports.
  • Fields internal and external customer inquiries to the Service Department.
  • Supplies Service Technicians with parts as required
  • Follows up on shortages and expedites issues by reporting to the manager
  • Assists in maintaining all departmental tools, equipment, and vehicles are in good working order

Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record
  • Ability to meet physical demands and duration of physical exertion generally required to perform tasks in support of all job functions, for example – sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing, and pulling
