Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: Conduct basic research for potential funding sources. Responsible for writing grant proposals to foundations and government agencies to obtain funding for Big Sandy Health Care, Inc. Administer and facilitate grant preparation and submission process. Advise and assist departments with process and compliance issues related to funding agency regulations and standards.

PURPOSE: Researching grant programs, writing funding applications, and coordinating and leading activities of a grant program, as directed.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as key team member in the developing and writing grant proposals.
  • Organize and edit grant applications and portions of proposals written by other staff.
  • Organize and write technical reports, plans and other documents to provide information throughout the organization.
  • Interpret agency funding regulations and requirements; review proposals for compliance with policies, regulations, procedures and facilitate documentation requirements.
  • Develop and maintain specialized databases and systems for recording and tracking grant proposals, awards and related statistical information; create and distribute standard and special reports, studies, summaries and analyses, as required.
  • Maintain knowledge of current grant funding policies, regulation and procedures; disseminate and/or present changes to departments and advise on the implementation of changes and the impact of changes on funded operations.
  • Research new funding sources at local, state and federal levels as well with corporate and private foundations.
  • Provide timely advice and information on funding opportunities, requirements, and procedures; collaborates in defining and implementing project funding strategies.
  • Maintain necessary records, files, reports, databases and resource materials pertinent to grants.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports.
  • Knowledge of data management systems and processes.
  • Strong analytical skills: proficiency with Excel, Power Point and Access.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of grant funding policies, procedures and applicable local, state and federal regulations.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and/or community funding sources and application mechanisms.
  • Skill in designing, writing and editing complex grant documents.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, interpret and apply government regulations and proposal guidelines to grant applications.
  • Ability to work independently and as a vital member of a team.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize projects effectively to meet office and proposal deadlines.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Communication, Business, or related field.
  • Three to five years experience in writing grant proposals or related experience.
  • Demonstrate experience writing grant proposals to both government and private funding sources.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Computer literacy.
