Job Description

Job Description

Australia’s highly respected food brand, Good Food, is looking for an energetic social media editor to join its team. The ideal candidate will have a proven news instinct and an interest in Australia’s food scene.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing Good Food’s social media strategy. We’re looking for someone who can bring fresh ideas about digital storytelling and help grow our audience with innovative content that builds a loyal community. Social Media is constantly evolving and changing, and we are looking for someone who can keep Good Food at the cutting edge.

Day to day you will:

  • Help generate story ideas for content geared toward distribution across social media platforms.
  • Manage Good Food’s social media accounts.
  • Write, create and publish social posts and stories.
  • Capture photos and videos, create composite images and GIFs as needed – sourcing images, designing in Canva.
  • Work to ensure the tone and balance of content is appropriate, targeted, reflects GF’s brand identity and resonates with the audience.
  • Maintain consistent messaging and promptly address any feedback or crises that may arise.
  • Use analytics to make informed strategic decisions. Monitor performance metrics and continuously refine strategies to optimise engagement, reach and brand awareness.
  • Identify emerging growth tactics and trends.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience in growing audiences, and developing and delivering social media strategies. You’ll have a knack for crafting engaging and compelling social media sells that build audience engagement, and be obsessed with finding the best way to articulate a story or piece of content that resonates with the audience.

You’ll understand that success relies on gripping photos and videos so you’ll have experience capturing them. You’ll have a passion for food news and a keen eye for story angles.

What we would like to see:

  • A deep interest in Australia’s food scene.
  • A strong understanding of social media, including trends and platform-specific best practices.
  • Digital production skills including copy editing, headline writing and story packaging. Image, video and audio editing skills will be an advantage as will graphic design skills.
  • Creative flair to make content stand out in a competitive environment.
  • Refined editorial judgement with an ability to identify digital trends and spot a trending news story.
  • Strong grasp of media law.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills; the ability to write in an engaging, smart tone that feels native to social media and still consistent with the values of Good Food.
  • Willingness to pitch in when needed to accomplish the goals of a small team and learn new skills.
  • Capacity to successfully manage competing priorities, maintain high standards and meet deadlines.
