What will the role involve?

You will manage your team of content curators in producing content which engages readers and reaches as many people as possible. You will publish content online with a focus on Google News, Google Discover, Apple News, Flipboard, Upday and Whatsapp. You will provide support and guidance to your team to encourage them to source the most engaging content at pace.

You will play a key role in growing and driving readership across a wide variety of Reach brands. You will curate content, from selecting stories, checking headlines and choosing images for published content, ensuring IPSO and Reach’s digital publishing standards are met at all times. This role includes shift and weekend working, this will typically involve 1 weekend in every three, so a flexible approach is required.


Who are we looking for?


  • Senior NCTJ/NQJ Level 6 journalism (or in house equivalent) qualification with extensive digital newsroom experience is essential

  • You may be a current Content Editor ready to move into a wider reaching role that covers a variety of titles, or a Senior journalist, ready to take the next step up to an Editor position

  • Proven understanding of audience content distribution through Google Discover, Apple News and Whatsapp is essential

  • Ability to rewrite copy for various audiences is essential

  • Proven track record of distributing published content via social media platforms is essential

  • First class writing skills with a keen eye for what makes an engaging story. You will have a passion for digital journalism and understand the key role specialist distribution and analytics play in stories reaching our audiences


  • Experience working with push notifications

  • You will be a team player who is keen to step into a supportive managerial role

  • You know how to encourage your team to get the best out of them, whilst driving towards deadlines and targets
