Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Bid Manager/Writer who is motivated, organised and who has previous knowledge in the real estate/infrastructure/construction sector. The post will manage the development of bids (up to multi-million-pound contracts) by translating strategic vision and liaising with key contributors from across the organisation into tailored, bespoke, innovative and evidence-based responses in line with commissioned specifications, word/page limit restrictions and deadlines working as part of the Bid to Win team and UK Business Generation team. THIS IS A CLASSICAL BID WRITING ROLE THAT WILL NOT TRANSITION INTO A MARKETING ROLE. WE ARE SEEKING BID MANAGEMENT/WRITING PROFESSIONALS THAT ARE SEEKING A LONG-TERM ROLE IN THE BID MANAGEMENT FUNCTION.
- Analyse, coordinate, write and develop comprehensive PQQ/ITT responses incorporating the requirements of the commissioned specification, within strict timescales
- Incorporate local knowledge, evidence/research and writing style/branding ensuring bid is targeted to defined audience, consisting of an evidence base and innovative approaches as advised by experts across the organisation and best practice
- Project manage and incorporate input from bid partners, directors, technical experts and wider team as necessary, to ensure a consistent and coherent final bid against scoring criteria
- Provide structured format and text for others contributing to bid. Quality assure, re-write for consistency/correct grammar as necessary and provide constructive feedback to ensure meaningful and succinct information is obtained
- Quality assure and provide peer review function of another writer’s work.
- Review and amend draft bid considering feedback from Peers, Directors and Bid Manager.
- Ensure bid is submitted for review for internal quality assurance and governance processes
- Attend conferences and events where appropriate
- Work flexibly across the organisation to support Directors dependent on tender activity to ensure a unified and consistent approach to bids
- Following submission of bid, extract key information from tender and manage information in-line with information management processes and following internal feedback analysis processes
- Support team with Technical or Policy Writing when necessary
- Provide best practice training on best practice bid process, structure and quality

The Bid and proposal writer, Energy, Natural Resources and Infrastructure, USA is an integral contributor to this team, driving responses to proposals and bids across the USA for the Infrastructure, Energy and Natural Resources teams.
Job Summary:
Working closely with our Infrastructure Directors, the Business Generation Manager, client-facing professionals and other Turner & Townsend colleagues, the Bid and proposal writer, Energy, Natural Resources and Infrastructure, USA will be responsible for supporting the planning, collation and coordination of proposals, bids and other marketing collateral such as interview presentations to expand Turner & Townsend,’s help the teams win more work and market share across the Energy, Natural Resources and Infrastructure sectors. This individual will focus on generating creative and compelling client-facing content, and content and leading the team’s timely involvement and response to new business opportunities (i.e., RFP responses and proposal development).
To be successful, the incumbent must be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of bid planning, effectively lead the proposal/bid preparation process, and demonstrate strong project management skills. This individual must think strategically, communicate clearly and be able to work with stakeholders to help formulate a viewpoint on complex issues, creating concise and well-written business narratives. The professional will nurture highly collaborative internal client relationships with segment/service line professionals and SMEs to drive an integrated approach.
Specific responsibilities associated with the Bid and proposal writer, Energy, Natural Resources and Infrastructure, USA role include:
Proposal and bid coordination

Promote and manage Turner & Townsend’s ‘Bid to Win’ process for new business pursuits, ensuring engaged participation from directors and SMEs to achieve a high-quality deliverable and supporting the strategy, development and production of custom proposals, bids, RFP/RFI responses, presentations, and other client deliverables.

Compile and vet existing materials and draft original content for proposals and client materials, identifying compelling copy, themes/concepts and salient points that demonstrate value and expertise.

Create eye-catching graphics that translate complex processes and approaches into easy-to-understand images and charts.

Control deliverables from inception to delivery and communicate successfully with internal team during the lifecycle of an assignment to ensure compliance with deadlines and requirements.

Utilizing data gathered from market research, partner with Client Relationship Leads in the development of target client pursuit plans ensuring relevancy at the point of use.

Lead the overall creative design of interview presentations, providing hands-on drafting and project management to support, including case studies, capability documents, brochures, service descriptions, team CVs/resumes, etc. while adhering to corporate design/branding standards.

Work with the regional Knowledge Manager to contribute best-in-class materials, content, and final deliverables to internal content repositories (CMS).

Act as guardian of the Turner & Townsend brand ensuring consistency across the region.

Champion global/North America programs, deliverables, and initiatives across the region.

Quality control: Ensure all work is performed on time, cost effectively and according to Turner & Townsend’s high-quality standards.

Assist regional and global business generation and marketing teams, as needed.

Qualifications
To provide the support that Turner & Townsend’s client-facing professionals require, the candidate will need 5-8 years of proposal/bid writing and coordination experience, preferably within the Energy and Natural Resources or other B2B professional services environments. Required competencies include:

Certification in proposal management such as Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) or other not required but preferred.

Alternatively, a bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, journalism, or the equivalent in prior marketing and business development experience.

Minimum of 5 years of experience across both proposal/bid management and corporate marketing/communications, preferably within the construction consultancy, advisory, legal, architecture, or real estate industries.

Experience in Energy and/or Natural Resources would be an asset in this role.

A comprehensive knowledge of the construction consultancy/advisory business that adds value or strategically enhances deliverables and initiatives.

An ability to identify critical messages and unique selling points, and clearly and effectively communicate them, and to modify standard text to meet the specific requirements of each new assignment.

An ability to contribute strategic concepts for business and project initiatives and successfully execute those concepts.

Excellent project management, organizational and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to implement/enforce procedures and to influence at all levels.

Should be a self-starter and possess a strong ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously to tight deadlines, with an ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment.

Superior written, analytical, and oral communications skills; very detail oriented with an eye for design and graphics.

Strong PC skills required. As bids/proposals are drafted in PowerPoint, expertise in this software is mandatory. Expert in the use of Microsoft Office package, especially MSWord, Excel, and Power Point. Adobe Creative Suite proficiency desirable. Video and graphic design experience is also a plus.
