Labels & Labeling is seeking an editor and writer to join its global team, covering the North American market.

Labels & Labeling is a global, industry-leading publication backed by more than 40 years in the label and packaging space. Labels & Labeling magazine has a global network of editors and contributors and reaches 10,000 readers through its print edition and more than 100,000 readers online, spread across 130 countries worldwide.

Responsibilities include:

  • Reporting on the North American label and package printing market – including Mexico and Canada
  • Writing exclusive news and feature articles for both print and online
  • Regular travel in North America, and occasional long-haul travel to Labelexpo global events
  • Attending and reporting from industry events
  • Accompanying sales colleagues to meetings with industry suppliers
  • Daily editing and publishing of news stories on labelsandlabeling.com
  • Scheduling, recording and editing video interviews and social media posts
  • Regular promotion of our content and interaction with the industry through social media

The best candidates are strong editors and compelling writers who are looking to grow their editorial skills and subject matter expertise. A successful candidate should be able to write and proofread copy, generate compelling ideas for stories, build relationships with industry sources, and learn quickly on the job.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable with video recording and editing, can react quickly to news and have a savviness for social media. He or she will have a keen work ethic and the ability to source and cover news independently yet work as part of a focused team. A natural curiosity for how things work, and a willingness to travel are essential.

  • Strong writing and editing skills, especially technology-based B2B writing

  • Presenting / public speaking ability
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good time management and organizational skills

  • Willing to travel
  • An entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to work on his/her own initiatives

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of journalism experience
  • Proficiency in conducting interviews with industry experts.
  • Familiarity with digital tools and platforms (HootSuite, social media, CMS).
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with industry sources, include executives and other key stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel on up to two (2) multi-day business trips per month, including some international travel.

The salary range for this role is 65k to 68k depending on experience.
