Job Description

About the Role

We are looking for the Associate Editor to join our Global Intelligence Team (GIT)’s Delivery desk to proof and distribute the team’s diverse portfolio of intelligence products.

You will ensure that the language, style and formatting across Sibylline’s deliverables adhere without fail to the company’s writing style guide and reporting standards.

As an Associate Editor you will also ensure the consistency and quality of Sibylline’s written output – communicating and upholding the same high standards across the company’s visual aids. You will act as the final layer of editorial oversight for Sibylline’s client-facing product suite to ensure all published content adheres to the very highest of standards with regard to brevity, analytical rigor and style.

The position is extremely dynamic and will offer the successful candidate opportunities to work on different topics within a range of fields.

Responsibilities

  • Routine edit and proof a high volume of intelligence reporting drafted by Global Intelligence Team desks
  • Review written text and visuals ensuring strict adherence to Sibylline style guidelines
  • Aid Delivery Lead in the routine review of analysis, ensuring relevant standards are met
  • In collaboration with Delivery Lead, innovate product lines, ensuring Sibylline’s portfolio remains actionable, relevant and timely to ensure reporting is of the utmost quality
  • Assist, if required, in the creation and maintenance of a reporting schedule
  • Collaborate with other functions to ensure the smooth delivery of bespoke client projects
  • Contribute to discussions on emerging trends, reporting requirements and product developments
  • Contribute to marketing activities such as podcasts, social media content and webinars as required

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (English Literature, English Language, Literary Arts, History, Classics, International Relations, Political Science or PPE. Other relevant degrees considered.)
  • An interest in current global events and/or geopolitics
  • Excellent understanding of written English and immaculate proofing skills
  • An interest working in a global security firm with an emphasis on travel, health and/or geopolitics
  • Flawless attention to detail and a passion for accuracy, as well as the stamina and grit to maintain this level of concentration at all hours of the working day
  • An ability to understand the importance of underscoring the ‘so what?’ with regard to business implications across Sibylline’s intelligence products
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to discuss complex issues with co-workers
  • Strong analytical, communication and presentation skills
  • Must have the right to work in the UK

Nice to have

  • Experience with a content management system
  • Experience working in a global security firm with an emphasis on travel, health and/or geopolitics
  • Experience working (casually or professionally) as part of a publishing house or news outlet (e.g. writing for a school or university magazine, a blog or a column, among other such examples)
  • Experience with graphic design programmes such as Canva and/or Mapcreator
  • A good understanding of world geography (countries, capital cities, world leaders etc)
