Archaeology Report Writer

Job Description

AECOM is currently seeking an Archaeology Report Writer to join our Cultural Resources team, based out of any of our Ontario offices. This role will contribute to the growth and diversification of our archaeology team by providing report writing, data management, and administrative support for a diverse range of clients.

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Author Stage 1–4 archaeology reports in compliance with the Ministry of Citizenship and Multiculturalism (MCM) standards.
  • Conduct independent historical research and prepare land use histories throughout Ontario.
  • Manage internal and external deadlines to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Support data management and administrative functions for project teams.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues to meet project requirements and client expectations.
  • Maintain a strong focus on accuracy, clarity, and adherence to provincial reporting standards.
  • Promote and follow AECOM’s strong health and safety culture in all aspects of work.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidate must have completed Bachelor’s Degree in Cultural Resources, Heritage, Anthropology, or other related field or have demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 year relevant experience in Archaeology report writing.
  • Experience authoring archaeological reports in compliance with the Ministry of Citizenship and Multiculturalism (MCM) standards, a sample of which may be requested.
  • Familiarity with the MCM’s archaeology and heritage online portal (Past Portal).
  • Proficient research and writing skills, a sample of which may be requested.
  • Demonstrated dedication to following and promoting a strong health and safety culture.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Work efficiently to successfully meet set deadlines.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the MCM’s Standards and Guidelines for Consultant Archaeologists.
  • Valid Research or Professional class license issued by the Ontario MCM
