Technical Trainer – Technical Writer – SBG

This role focuses on delivering high-quality technical training and documentation in a dynamic, fast-paced IT and cybersecurity environment. The ideal candidate will develop and present training programs on IT software, hardware, systems, and networks while creating clear, user-friendly materials and documentation. You will support technical staff and end-users through diverse instructional methods and maintain up-to-date knowledge to ensure training content remains relevant. This position involves collaboration across teams and requires excellent communication skills and attention to detail to meet government contractor standards.

Accountabilities:

  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver instructor-led and virtual training sessions on IT systems, software, hardware, and networks.
  • Present complex technical concepts in an accessible way for audiences with varied skill levels.
  • Utilize diverse training tools and media formats including slide decks, e-learning platforms, videos, and interactive demos to enhance engagement.
  • Create and maintain course materials, manuals, user guides, job aids, and Knowledge Base articles.
  • Assess and improve training effectiveness based on participant feedback.
  • Collaborate with IT and project teams to identify training needs and update documentation accordingly.
  • Assist in editing and maintaining government-required security and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure accuracy of Knowledge Base articles in ServiceNow to support incident resolution at Tier 0/1.
  • Comply with relevant security and privacy standards such as HIPAA, FedRAMP, and NIST 800-53.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience delivering IT-related training programs covering hardware, software, systems, and network operations.
  • Proficiency with training and presentation tools such as PowerPoint, LMS platforms, and video conferencing software.
  • Strong public speaking, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Solid organizational and planning capabilities with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles, instructional design, and curriculum development is preferred.
  • Experience in Help Desk or IT support roles is a plus.
  • Associate degree or a 2-year technical program in Computer Science or relevant field, or 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of formal education.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% as required.
