We’re launching an exciting new role on our US Sports Desk for a dynamic Fantasy & Betting Reporter who can deliver high-quality, engaging content covering all things fantasy and betting. You’ll break news, create original features, build strong relationships with betting partners, and deliver exclusives at speed—driving readers to our platforms and making your mark in the industry. Working as a specialist within a supportive team of up to 17 reporters, you’ll also have opportunities to contribute across the sports desk.

Since the start of 2023, we have been building out our US operation, headquartered at 200 Liberty St, New York. We’ve launched three standalone brands in the Mirror US, Express US and the Irish Star, covering news, sport, entertainment, politics and lifestyle – all targeted at US audiences.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll be responsible for producing 6-8 high-quality stories each day, from quick news updates to longer, exclusive features. You’ll use data analytics to shape your content and headline choices, closely analyzing past successes and audience trends to refine your approach.

As a key contributor to content planning and forward strategy, you’ll bring your own ideas and take a semiautonomous approach to your work. You’ll cover a range of news and sports stories, with a key focus on Fantasy & Betting content, across multiple websites, driving readers to our platforms and increasing engagement time. You’ll work to clear targets while upholding Reach’s values of diversity, inclusion, and non-discrimination in everything you publish.

Shift Patterns & Working Location

This is an office based role working from our New York hub, we are therefore open to candidates based in or commutable to New York.

Shifts are done on a rolling rota basis, and can range anywhere from 10:00am ET – 12:00am ET. Any shifts ending after 9:00pm ET will have the flexibility to be completed remotely.

A level of flexibility is required in this role, as shifts are open to last minute changes as a result of live sporting events. Weekend shifts will also be required when needed.

Qualifications

We’re seeking someone who is truly passionate about betting and fantasy sports content, with a keen eye for strong stories and the ability to craft irresistible headlines. You’ll quickly identify what resonates with audiences and adapt your approach to maximize reach and engagement. You should be driven to build the largest possible audience for your work, confident in approaching talent and asking tough questions, and able to perform under pressure.

Comfort working with tabloid-style journalism is important. Candidates must hold journalism qualifications and have experience delivering sports content, ideally for national outlets but not essential.
